Chiller's Everything SpaceJanuary 04 Oops.Chapter 3 – Wait? Not dead?
I felt like I was being electrocuted. I twisted around. I hurt all over. I apparently, hadn’t died. I must be in hell I thought. It’s dark and I’ve just been electrocuted. The suit display came up. It must have tried to get me out of being dead state. It was flashing and reported my left leg was broken in the center. “Damnit! If you can hear me say something!” I hear the Sarg yell. “Hell sucks,” I said sarcastically trying to get up. “You’re alive. Get up.” Sarg wasted no time comforting me. “You fell in the sewage apparently. You’re a good distance away, and there’s no way for us to get to you.” “Ok. Fine I’m alone. What needs to be done?” “Good spirit. I’ve already uploaded the map for you. Try to make your way to their bunker or air platform. I really have no idea how many tunnels or sewer routes the Onegumera’s have. Make sure you….” The Sarg cut out. The display blinked a signal jammed warning then closed. I looked at my dented shield. I must have landed on it. Unfortunately my leg didn’t land on the shield. Even though my leg was in pain, the suit compensated so I was able to walk. I had the system run a diagnostic. The self medical unit was taxed working my leg and body pain; I crushed my L-32 rifle; I bent the sword I was given; dented a thick shield; and finally the sensors weren’t working. Basically I was blind with a small pistol. I was in dark tunnel. Suit said I was in some half meter deep sewage water. Thankfully, the heat sensors worked to a degree so I could see if anyone was coming. I reached to my right leg and pulled out the pistol and put on a silencer from the accessory pack. I started to walk down the tunnel. As far as I remember the Onegumeras use tunnels for just about anything. Onegumera were some eight to ten meters high and more strength then I would have liked. They were ugly as shit with a dark brown-green color. However, they were moderately intelligent, but mostly pirates when it came to technology. I continued to walk forward not knowing where I was going. It made me completely uneasy. Even though I was given that map, it reported it couldn’t find my location, thus completely useless. I just tried to piece together what the heat sensor said. The water started to move faster. I wondered if the system was flushing. I slipped and fell on my ass. The water was carrying me. It was a slope. I was gliding on my ass down the ramp to who knows where. This was insane. I was sliding around then up, as if something propelled the water up. I was probably bound for a sanitation plant. I tried to grab the sides in desperation, but I just grabbed dirt. It was like a rollercoaster. I splashed after about five minutes of the sliding. I swam up from under the water. I poked my head up. It was covered in sludge. Apparently the suit just fixed the night vision as a warning came up that night vision was now available. It seemed rather late in timing. I had it turned on. I was in a bowl like room with a single passage out. Apparently I must have cracked the wall since where I came out looked destroyed. The tunnel was most likely not built to hold a suit like this. Suit rang a temperature warning at that moment. It read sixty-two Celsius, Pretty hot. Maybe I was near a boiler. I crawled out of the bowl shaped pit and made my way toward the only way out. I poked my head out since it was a short small passage. I stood there amazed. I must have left my karma at home. I was next to the nuclear reactor of their main facility. It was pretty big, complexly held together with various metals with the core exposed. December 17 Infantry Division X - CH2Continuing my book, I'll update every so often. At least twice a week.................Chapter 2 – “That’s bullshit….”
Back home before all of this mess, people used to say two objects always fell at the space speed. That the whole thing was gravity related. A bowling ball and a pencil would fall at the same speed. At this moment in time it was like a load of bullshit. The suit’s display said I was falling at three hundred meters a second.
“Oh shit,” Michael’s voice rang. “Did they drop us angled again?” “We’re angled by thirty. Extra speed, so watch what you land on.” The Sarg rang back. “Sarg, the newbie is going to miss the spot.” Michael rang. He was right. I got a red flashing error message. It was telling me I was toast. “It’s alright, just…” That’s all I heard the Sarg say before I got hit by flak.
I was now spinning. It wasn’t sickening because of the suit compensating for it, but I couldn’t tell were I was going to land. My screen was scrambled. I couldn’t see where I was going to land. I was going to end up a white falling brick. This was utter shit. I was going to die my first time going into battle because some idiot couldn’t calculate the angle right. There was no way the suit jets could stabilize me and get me to land in the cushion fire. I just closed my eyes. I waited. I opened them back up.
“This is bullshit...” December 14 Infantry Division X- CH1Chapter 1 – Landing
“Wake up Michael!” I watched Sarg push him over. “Ah shit, I’m not cheati……” He looked around perplexed. “Shit man!” He threw his arms up.” We all laughed. “You awake too boy?” Sarg hit me one too. “Yes sir!” I gave a prompt response to. “That’s how it’s done Michael!” Sarg was pointing to me. Michael just blew it off.
I was in the 3rd Hometan Infantry Division, a lancer squad as they called it. Everyone knows the 1st through 10th squadrons by name and color. I was luck I made the cut for the squad. 1st and 2nd were known as the first two elite units put together; the Sky Guard and Sky Hawks respectively. The 3rd was reserved for a slight physic of knights. They were supposed to be the group that held the primary Imperial Barracks during the revolution nearly 100 years ago. They were given the hardest tasks. Hence if you ever made the cut it was considered above an honor to serve. About ten years ago the 3rd was renamed the Knights.
“Hey! Stop day dreaming!” the Sarg barked. “This isn’t a cake walk mission today!” Everyone called him the Sarg. He was supposed to be around fifty, but in good health. Rumor has it he’s the grandson of the first leader of the Knights. Even at fifty he was built like a rock, and no one has since told him otherwise.
We were all dressed in our full armor: chunk, bio-reactive, bio-responsive armor. It was suppose to be full white, but mostly a gray because of the wear on it. The armor itself gave us at least an extra foot in height. We all bore shields with our swords and L-32 assault rifles. Sarg carried his two hand sword, compared to our one hand swords. It always made us feel in our place he told us. We had a custom to that. I didn’t carry anything custom that day. I was the new guy. Put in the Knight’s unit to be tested and tried. Today we had a seemingly impossible task: Hold the enemy infantry in their own bunkers. I really had no idea what the Onegumera’s had in their arsenal. To be frank; it was my first day in the Hometan Military section.
“Going in Hot! Drop in 30! You’ll be dropping right at their doors!” The suit com-link rang.” “Ass kicking time Dante; I’ll get five times the kill you’re get.” “Quit your dreaming Michael.” “Can your mouths.” Sarg barked at them both.
The drop pod lights went yellow. In a small tube ready for the black metal doors under my feet to open up and drop us thirty-two thousand meters up in the air. Through anti-air artillery fire and land at their doorstep. The ambience light turned red, the doors opened. I stood there looking down at the hole in the floor. I should have passed on those waffles this morning. More to come! CHANGES!Changes are coming! THE STORM IS APPROACHING!!!!!!! |
